The Haro Station Wine Experience, an unforgettable encounter with the great Rioja wines - La Cata del Barrio de la Estación

The seven host wineries introduce their magnificent selection of fourteen wines that will delight those attending the major wine event that will take place in Haro on 16th June.

The wines will be tasted in a Riedel glass, especially tested by the technical directors of the wineries in order to enjoy all of the aromas and tastes of the wines from the Haro Station Wine Experience to the maximum.

Two of the restaurants named by the Michelin guide as the best in La Rioja, El Portal del Echaurren and Venta Moncalvillo, will offer seven tapas created for the occasion by chefs Francis Paniego and Ignacio Echapresto.

The Haro Station Wine Experience will hold its most exclusive, gourmet edition on 16th June. A world-class event that will demonstrate the relevance of this unique location for Spanish wine history with the López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, CVNE, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A., Viña Pomal Bodegas Bilbaínas, Bodegas Muga and Bodegas RODA wineries as the protagonists of an already unmissable day on the viniculture and wine tourism calendar in Spain.

Leonor González, Counsellor for Innovation and Development of the La Rioja Government, has highlighted the innovative nature of Haro Station since its beginnings. “What gives meaning to Haro is its oenological station and its wineries: they are creative, innovative and care for the landscapes with vineyards which add value to the land”.

The seven wineries that comprise this emblematic location will serve two of their own best wines, an offering which includes novelty wines, vintage wines not yet available on the market and established labels that will be recognised by wine lovers from all over the world. In a new initiative, these 14 premium wines will be tasted along with gourmet tapas created by the Michelin starred chefs Francis Paniego (El Portal de Echaurren, Ezcaray, two stars) and the Echapresto brothers (Venta Moncalvillo, Daroca de Rioja, one star). Together, they will offer a sample of their renowned gastronomical innovation, combining product, tradition and creativity in the best cuisine from La Rioja.

Furthermore, each visitor will receive a specially selected Riedel glass, tested by the technical team from each winery, which is able to show the wines in the clearest way. Riedel, an Austrian firm specialised in wine glassware is the quintessential brand for wine tasting in the best conditions and this glass will highlight the virtues of the great harvests and labels that will be served during the Haro Station Wine Experience.

The wineries are also preparing recreational activities to enjoy during the visits to the centenary facilities, and there will be live music throughout the whole celebration. Without a shadow of a doubt, Haro station will become a non-stop party on the 16th June, with wine and its culture as the main focus. The gathering is an irresistible encounter for lovers of wine, tourism and the most gourmet cuisine, with the chance of discovering and savouring wine in unique settings, visiting centenary cellars next to the Ebro River, delving into the silence of the barrel rooms where some of the best wines from La Rioja lie or marvelling at the perfect harmony between the modernist and avant-garde architecture designed by Zaha Hadid. A day considered by critics as the best wine event of the country, which has received awards on numerous occasions from different organisations for its undoubtable quality of wine tourism.

The organisation is scheduling several shuttle buses and trains to facilitate transfers from the nearest cities and areas easier and they will be suitably advertised.
